Max bucket finish

I had a chance to learn to make this prior to the book being released next month, October, 2014.  It pays to be a member of a small quilt group within a modern quilt guild that has so many talented fabric designers/pattern designers/ published quilt or quilt related book authors!
I am flying out to visit my grandson Max, and oh yes, his parents too a week from next Tuesday.  I don't want to try carrying this on the plane so come Monday I am shipping it UPS out to Texas.

I took the class at least a month ago, but did not quite finish it during the class times.  Today I finally picked up where I left off and I am very happy with the end result.

They just got a new kitty so I am sure the bit of kitty fabric you can see on the rim,  will make this an even bigger hit with Max the 3 year old.
I also cut binding for the quilt in the previous post/ photo of my  recent quilt top I finished.  I quilted it up about the 3rd of this month, and trimmed it the other night.
Last weekend I was up in Sisters, Oregon enjoying the yearly Folk Music Festival.  It was another great year of fabulous musicians playing amazing sets.
But I came home too late to do anything in the sewing room.

Plans for tomorrow include stitching the binding on the quilt and cutting 24 more 1.5 inch strips of 24 different fabrics for a swap I need to mail on Monday.  It is not much of a way of busting stash, but, it will increase my postage stamp square collection as I am cutting an extra square for myself and should get back the same number but different fabrics from the swap.

I also need to sort out the hand project I want to work on for this vacation.  I hate to admit but it will be the same project I took two years ago!  My ongoing 1/2 inch hexie English paper piecing project.
This is one of my oldest ufo projects, it would be nice to make a dent in it while I am gone.

I will be visiting one of my quilting friends tomorrow and will take along the Max bucket for her to see up close and in person. It is 9.5 inches tall and 9.5 inches across, so a good sized container for small toys.
Ok..on to stitching together binding and then calling it a night in the sewing room.
